Default What Polaris ATV for a woman? Wife wants something smaller...

Just bought an '06 Sportsman X2 500 EFI thinking that the wife would really enjoy it. She took it for a first ride two days ago and said it doesn't steer as easily as the ones she rode when she was younger.

I think she will get used to it, but out of curiosity...which model would you all say is best for a woman? My wife is only 5'1" and I think she gets intimidated by the bigger ATVs. Now I'm thinking something like a 250cc would be better for her. Trail Boss?

Thanks!

Maybe check out some of the models with power steering?

Trail Boss or Blazer might steer easier, but there's no way it's going to be able to handle some of the terrain and mud your Sportsman will.

One thing that makes the steering a little bit lighter is to get the heavy duty springs from Polaris for the front end. Polaris used to make a smaller 300cc Hawkeye that they called the Sportsman later. They also put a 450cc in this chassis which was smaller than the full size Sportsman. The X2 is pretty heavy duty and probably the heaviest of the heavies made by Polaris. Trail Boss and Trail Blazer are 300cc machines if I remember right. Older Trail Blazers were a 250cc 2 stroke. Another thought is the Scrambler which is sportier and lighter than a Sportsman.

i went through the same thing w/ my wife. i first bought a trail blazer(which she loved) and then a 06' sp 450(i wanted her to have awd) and it was too big to have fun w/ she says. so i then bought her a 08' sp 400(same thing as the hawkeye) which is smalled and it was better, but alot more tippy in the corners. bottom line is the next bike i buy her(someday) will be a scrambler which is the best of all worlds as it's lighter, sporty, and has awd.

I agree with Fishy! Once she tries the EPS, she won't want anything else.

Can't go wrong with a Scrambler. Lighter and more maneuverable than the big machines but still has, plenty of power and can go pretty much anywhere. If 4wd isn't needed, then the Trailblazer or Trail Boss would also be good choices.

Polaris magnum is a nice size atv not to big and not to small. They have plenty of power and are easy to steer.

I just told my wife how HAWT she looks riding the big ol' X2.

I agree on the Scrambler. If she gets tired of riding, as she calls it, beeoch, I will buy her one. I guess she only calls it that when she tries to get me to ride back there! My father has a 500 Scrambler that my mother drives during the hunting season.

Take her shopping and let her pick out what she likes.

Could save you thousands in the long run.
