Default loss of power

i own a 2002 grizzly 660, when water touches the cylinder and head it stalls. i replaced the spark plug and cap with dielectric grease and it made no difference. i spray water on the back of the cylinder with the hose not soaking the spark plug and it stalls. is it possible that the head gasket is sucking up the water. any sugggestions?thanks
