Default Where not to buy a atv from

I just want to give a quick heads up to anyone looking to buy a used quad, Do not buy from craigslist. I bought a 700 Raptor off CL checked the title and vin and all numbers matched. But 2 months after I got it and had it registered I got pulled over by the state police who impounded it and a day later informed me it was stolen. They also said that 40% of the quads on CL are stolen. This is the big selling place for the good theft rings that restamp the frames so they match a title. Just wanted to try and help anyone looking for a good deal because if it looks to good....well you know the rest.

I believe you can call your local police or registry of motor vehicles and ask for them to run the vin to check to see if it is stolen. Sorry to hear about your troubles. That stinks that there are such idiots that run these kinds of scams.

Sold three of mine, all legal, on CL. Bought my motorcycle from there, a kids quad and a used car.

Sorry to hear you got burned. Do you have any access to the seller?
(phone number, license plate or home address)

That's why, if they don't have paperwork don't trade. Simple as that.
