What is a good kids ATV?

We have a Panterra 90 CC atv that my 7 year old rides. It runs pretty well and gets through regular trails. The engine power seems okay for his level. But in pea gravel or mud it gets stuck which frustrates him. Is there a 110 cc or less ATV that doesn't get stuck easily in these situations? Should we be looking for units with larger tires?

Have you thought of a larger rear sprocket? or a smaller front sprocket? 2 teeth less in the front, or 6 added to the rear, would give you more low end power.(top speed would be less)

Dependable. 06 and earlier were 2 stroke, easy to work on. Lots of them out there so parts aren't that hard to find.
Worst thing about them is they are a little pricey. But you can get one of these, get your son some good years of riding and learning and then sell it for a decent price. (well depending on condition)

If you want to stick with the Chinese, I have 2 Taotao ATA-125D atvs. They are 110cc and the engine is solid. My 6 and 8 year old boys love them. Check them out here:

I have had them since Christmas 2010. I have had to replace the left handle bar switch on one because the lights would not work. Cost me $20 and 10 minutes. I have had to replace the rear brake pads twice on both. It seems that if they get water and sand between the rotor and pad, the pad will shred. Pads are $2.50 a set. I have tightened the chain on both twice. Loosen 4 bolts and pull the axle backwards then retighten. I change the oil with 700ml of SuperTech 15w-40 every 3 months. Changed out the spark plug to NGK C7HSA. I had to find replacement o-rings for the oil dipstick ($2 at NAPA). The little engine is solid and have had no problems. Added an inline fuel filter ($2). The boys have a blast on them. They are great for them to learn how to ride. Would I buy these again? Yes. Will I buy another Chinese ATV when my boys get older? No. I will get them a used Honda, Yamaha, or Kawasaki. Hope this helps!
