How often do you guys tighten the 2 big axle nuts?

Just curious about those 2.
They are always loose!!
After each ride, I have to tighten them again!
Should I put 2 gallons of loctite (I have already tried, but with no success)...or is something wrong inside?
Thanks.

Ben there did that! I tightened those nuts again & again & again. I finally got tired of it and bought a after market locking nut to replace them. I think its been on there for about 1-1/2 years and it has never loosened up on me.

I welded mine and they have been fine for a long time...

Yea, just kidding. Maybe the red loctite would work. The regular blue helps but it still comes loose. Loctite makes different types for different applications; one type for large bolts but hard to find in the average auto parts stores.

I have been having this problem also. I talked to my dad and he said to just cover the whole thing with silicone. I will try tomaorw evening. Hope it works.

I think most people go through this regardless of what type of quad they have, I know I did. I also tried loctite and even installed a litle bracket to the keep the nut from turning (didn't work very well). I see a lot of people at the races that wrap both nuts with duct tape but this doesn't work either, and then you have to remove the tape to tighten it back up. The only thing that seems to work is the aftermarket axle nuts.

But the RAD nut for that thing. It screws on and when you have it where you want it, you just tighten a little bolt. I have never had this nut come lose on my shee.

I dont have a problem, I just clean the threads of the nut and on the axle, Apply blue or red loctite (whichever is handy) and let it almost dry, Apply a little bit more (BOTH peices) and put everything together, Torque the nuts to spec. No problems for me, Maybe you guys are not tightening the bolts correctly\enough?? or maybe running the bike before the loctite has dried?

I back them completely off, clean the threads up really good, then apply silicon to it. tighten the first one completely down, then apply more silicon, then tighten the other. I use a pipe wrench to tighten mine, and use my leg to tighten it.
