Unhappy grizzly 125 problem

hi everyone.i have a 125 grizzly my son rides and it is having problems.he was riding it and it was running fine.he shut it off to go inside and when he came right back out to take off again it started up but when he give it the gas it quit.(yes it has gas).after tinkering with it, it still starts right up but when i give it the gas it dies.when i put the choke on it will build a few more rpms but still dies.thought it was carb issue but when i checked the airbox it had quite abit of oil in it and the filter is soaked, checked the oil level and it was down a little but nothing drastic.a buddy of mine was thinking maybe a oil ring or piston is cracked but it does not smoke.i need to run a compression test but dont have one yet and was wanting to get a few comment about the problem before i buy one.still thinking it is the carb but dont know about the oil in the airbox.any help will greatly appreciated
sorry for such a long post!

High RPM's can cause the engine to push oil through the engine breather into the airbox.
