99 polaris 335 - 2 stators in 30 min
#1
Last week the stator calved on my sportsman 335. Ordered a new one off ebay that checked out as a good fit. I had a mechanic install it for me and it worked great for 30 minutes. Then boom, it just died while in motion, no spark. We tested the stator again and it read 4 ohms on the green and black wires, should be reading 400ohms according to spec. Is it possible something else on the bike is killing the stator or is it my luck I bought a faulty stator? Can anyone offer any insight before I blow more hard earned cash. Thanks very much.
Here is a link to the stator I purchased

According to the listing it shows to have a year warranty! Send it back! Also check for any wires that may have been reversed in the harness leads against the old stator! Found this on an aftermarket stator we installed for a customer at the shop! Problem is that you don't know where they come from and how well they are assembled versus directly from Polaris! I believe ours came from Ricks Stators and they had a couple wires backwards! OPT

Well I wrote the guy that I bought it from and he sent me to Ricky Stator. Thats when I thought it was all over! But I did my speal to them and they apologized and asked me to send it back for repair or replacement. I was shocked. Thanks OPT, I will check that out when we reinstall it. One question tho...would the quad run for 30min if the wires were backwards?
Thanks for the reply guys.

Ours from Ricks Stators(NOT Ricky Stator) had the two pick up wires crossed in the harness and wouldn't run. We didn't notice it at first!
All we had to do with ours was swap the leads! Yours probably overheated and shorted out?? At least seems like they will refund or repair,MOST electrical parts are not returnable! OPT
