Help With 2003 Polaris Predator 500
#1
Hey
I have a problem with my fourwheeler and was wondering if anybody could help. It has not ran in a while but I finally got it running. At idle it seems to be running hotter than it should be and smoke is coming from the middle of the exhaust. It also will not idle very long it idles for a while then will just shut off on its own.
Thanks
Any help would be appreciated.

I went thru the same thing after my 500 sat for about 2 years. Cleaned the carb a few times. New plug. The such. When it finally ran, it wouldn't idle without the choke fully out. Mine also got really hot on the exhaust side. And also leaked
Well after some messing around I found the fuel pump somehow became caked with dirt ( and not on the side that receives fuel) so I put a new fuel pump on and it ran fine. My exhaust leak was from the head to pipe gasket. Something about the wound metal that its made of that doesn't like to sit for a while.
Now no overheating and runs just like the day I got it.
Currently under a full tear down for full strip and paint job.
I know the post is a little old, would like to know if you fixed it and what the problem was with yours
