I started my DS today and the red light did not go off. ( it was dim for a second ) The engine was cold, it was fine when I put away last weekend. It has plenty of oil. I even tried bleeding it, the red light stays on. What can I try next ?

I would take that light VERY SERIOUSLY!!! Don't ride it.

I wouldn't keep starting it, but if you do you can shine a light down the opening of the oil tank where you fill the oil and look for oil moving around which indicates you have oil pressure. If you see no oil moving around, there is no oil pressure - don't start it anymore and get it too the dealer.

It could be a bad oil pressure switch or bad wiring (a short). Or it could be a bad or shorted overtemp sensor. These can be easily tested.

The switch is probably bad, water or a wire. I had the same problem. They replaced the switch, never had a problem again.

It was a sending unit switch, one of the up dates that came up after I purchaced it. The dealer replaced the part with the up date.

BigWaynester, what is the mfg. date on your quad? Mine is April 2000...wonder if my switch needs replaced? Why does Bombardier not send out bulletins to owners about these kind of things? I could make for a little less customer anguish if and when something does go wrong if we had some information. I find it somewhat disappointing that I never heard a single thing from Bombardier after paying over $7,000 for one of their products. Like maybe send out a questioner asking about the product and the dealer. This would indicate a lack of concern about customer satisfaction to me. I like my quad a lot but feel distant from Bombardier. I work in an industry that relies a lot on customer support and satisfaction. Some dealerships don't know what customer satisfaction is. Because of the horror stories I have heard I am very reluctant to take my quad to the dealer for service unless I absolutely have to.
