Well, I finally picked up my 2001 Traxter XT on Friday. What a nice looking quad! And, it's so much bigger than my Honda Fourtrax 300. The Honda was a great machine, but with a 600 foot driveway, I now need something with more power for plowing and hauling wood, etc.

I have noticed a couple of things though, that I will keep an eye on. For one, the rear brake has to be squeezed very hard (or pressed, for the foot brake) to slow it down. I thought that with a disc brake that it would be much more sensitive to braking. Maybe it just needs to be broken in?

And, on a few different occasions, while idling, the engine suddenly cut out briefly, as if I had turned off the key and then quickly turned it back on. Most of the time, it has not stalled when it has done this (even after the engine was warmed up), but it has stalled, twice.

One other odd thing that it did yesterday was, while I was heading up my driveway, in low range/3rd gear, two different times the engine acted as though it went briefly into neutral, and then back to into gear (only for about a half second or so). I'm wondering if the clutch slipped or something Has anyone else had this happen with their Traxter?

Anyway, I will be glad once all the snow melts so I can use this quad in the woods, instead of just the driveway. :-)
