Hey just wondering if anyone could tell me if I need to replace the sprockets on my 06 raptor. Whenever I slow down or use the brakes there's a clicking noise and it sounds like its coming from the front one but I'm not positive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do the teeth look rounded? Depending on what the ones you have are made of, that could make a difference too.

How is the tension on the chain?

A new setup is a lot cheaper when you're doing it before the chain hits the case.

Thats when a case saver comes in handy

 

Generally when your sprocket or chain is worn it will jump teeth under accelleration, not braking or letting off the gas. If they have not been changed it will probably be a good idea to go ahead and do it though.

Have you checked the slack in your chain? It might be a loose chain causing it.

 

Also, when replacing the chain invest in a good quality chain, not one of those cheap ones. You get what you pay for there. If that chain breaks it is common for the chain to get bunched up against the case and snap off the mounts for the case saver and/or knock a hole in the case itself.

 

The chain is tight and the teeth don't look rounded. Could it be a missing tooth?

 

You would see it if it was missing a tooth. The noise you may be hearing could also be the chain slapping the top of the chain guide which is normal.
