Brake Pads??? for an 08 sportsman 800

Everyone's got their own opinions, but we sold a lot of EBC pads over the counter along with stock pads.A lot of it depends on your riding conditions. The tougher the pad the longer it lasts, but can put a lot of wear on the rotors. OPT

I run EBC brakes on my truck, so I figured I've give them a shot on the quad. I recently put a set of the EBC SV series (severe duty) on the wife's 500 Scrambler, and she loves them. Much better than stock, but not so aggressive they throw her off under hard braking. I'll probably put a set on my 800 Sportsman next year.

, but i wouldn't go w/ the heavy duty pads if they are full metallic pads as they will eat the disks. maybe a semi metallic pad would be easier on the disk for longer life. on both my 800's the ebs worked so well, i didn't use my brakes alot

There actually made of Sintered copper so Im not sure if they would be what you would call a full metallic and or a semi-metallic?

I doubt they would be considered full metallic. And even if they classify as semi-metallic, I wouldn't worry. There isn't that much increased wear on the disks as compared to organic pads (atleast not on full size vehicles). If you ride in sand, mud, etc. it'll destroy "standard" pads quick. The heavy duty pads will stand up better to the environment. My wife was going through 3 sets of pads a year, but between the cost and hassle of constantly changing brakes, I figured I'd try the sever duty pads this time. I'd rather change the disks just once a year if it comes to that.

Our 97 500 has no enginge braking and went through pads,we tried EBC pads "sinter"(not sure if thats the name) and they last much longer.
I hate changing brakes so I only use them if the situation is life threating, most times throttling off early is enough.LOL
