300cc 2-stroke (Low Hrs)




Been stiiting 4-5 yrs. 1 hr cleanign the machine and 3hrs Cleaning the tar like substance out of the carb. WD-40 the pull start and work it for 5 min so it will now recoil. Fuel Tank was empty so that usually means bad petcock / bad needle & seat. New petcock and new carb kit on the way.

Add fuel / jump pack and stir... Rides and drives good but every chain is loose. Will idle at about 300 rpm. Can not confirm 6-wd yet. Need to source a new battery and make proper chain adjutments. Also missing the cooling fan Which could be very important if I were to get stuck.

 

Good luck on the Big Boss. There are plenty of grease fitting on this machine! Make sure you don't overlook the axle frame support grease fittings. Plenty of chains to adjust and grease! OPT

 

Remember to change the front hub fluids with polaris on demand AWD fluid.

Fortunatly all of the grease fittings and the hub drain / fills are marked with Florescent orange paint. I'm hoping this is a good sign.

The previous owner (now 70 yrs old) has had it since 99 and did not use it much. He ran a forestry company where he did the control burns after the clear cut. He was the only on to use this machine.

 

Being a one owner and having the drain plugs marked at least shows the man probably cared. The awd has to have the battery to operate,plus as far as the fan,look at the top rear motor mount bracket and you will see a small sensor or part of one drilled into it. They had a bad habit of breaking from the vibration or shorting out. This was a bad location to place the fan sensor! If you do install a fan I would hook it up to a toggle switch when under loads or long engine runs. As it's set up from the factory the fans hardly ever came on. Just a bad idea on the sensor mounting,plus a lot of air cooled atvs don't even have a fan. Just up to you on this one. Good luck again. OPT

 

Located a used fan a few counties over on a parts 300 express. Now I've just gotta make the drive. Thanks OPT / I'll run the fan a toggle. Anything slow / stop / stuck will get the fan.

After a bath ~ wanted to edit the opening post to include the before and after but does not look posiable. Didn't make the trip for a new battery today. Going to wait until the other parts come in before we go for a trail ride. Hopefully Monday Tuesday.
