i run and auto repair shop and had a customer bring in his atv with intermittent cranking issues. we diagnosed it to be starter solenoid. i put one and and it started up fine. it ran for a few minutes and then stopped. now all it does is crank and no start. its not getting spark. im thinking that the cdi box is the problem, but id like to know what inputs the box gets so i can eliminate the parts that send signal to the cdi box.

Welcome! The Cdi gets its signal from the stator assy. I'm having problems cranking too. I get spark but no start. I'm trying to get any idea of what I need to check.

 

You have to have compression, air, fuel and spark. First thing I'd check is fuel flow and clean the carb and keep some fuel stabilizer in it. Probably wouldn't hurt to check the valves.
