K&N POWERLIDS from Tousley Motorsports
Thats what i am looking at....is it really worth the $127?? how much power would i actually get?? would a K&N filter (not the lid) be a better idea? thanks!

Real simple and FREE, just take the lid off your air box and drill a bunch of 1/2 inch holes in it or a few larger holes! It will allow MUCH better air flow because the stock air intake tube is really restrictive. Just make sure you drill the holes on the back end of the lid so that the holes are not directly over top the filter just in case water splashes up into the holes. Also, if you ride in wet conditions it would be a good idea to also drill a drain hole in the bottom of the air box too.

Yeah the 250X many be a little different design or something. People have done dyno tests on the 400ex before and after drilling the lid and it did make a different in power. Your not gonna see a 15% gain in power by just drilling your air box lid of course, but it does help.

I would get the Outerwear kit that velcroes to the top of the open air box, about 30-40 bucks...flows like an open box, but keeps lots of dirt out, and you can even spec waterproof coating to keep the box dry during puddle crossings, a big problem with no lid or drilled lid. You can even get kits tha have you cut out the middle of your lid, and bolt in an aluminum bracket that holds and Outerwear screen, a bit more expensive, but looks great.
