Looking at a 2004 grizzly 660 with 760 miles. Question is if the guy bought a new gauge cluster at some point wouldn't the odometer start from 0? Is there a way to show this as actual miles? It has no stickers either and he said he removed them. Am I just being overly cautious? I am thinking no stickers = a reprinted unit and low miles is a new gauge system.

Thoughts?

 

A brand new instrument pod would start at 0 a used one would start at what it was taken off at.

I'm not sure what stickers you are referring to but without the original pod there is no way to tell the actual miles.

The 660 is pretty rock solid. There some guys around here with close to 20K miles on them. The biggest maintenance item besides the usual oil, clean air filter, change differential is to clean and regrease the primary sheave every 1000 miles.

I meant there are no decals on the quad. None at all. He said he removed them. You know like decals that say Grizzly etc.

I would worry more about how it runs. Most sport quads don't have odometers, so you just judge based on how well it has been maintained and how it runs. If it has that few miles, the u joints and all the steering parts will be real tight.

 

A trick when the speedo does not work yet the ATV looks good to get a idea of the miles is look up the stock tires for that ATV (Dunlop in your case) if they still have the stock tires with little wear then the milage is not bad.
ATV tires do not wear long and nobody replaces there stock tires with the same type after they wear out.
At 760 miles the stock tire should look very good,thats only 7 or 8 fill ups in gas in its life time. I do two fill ups a weekend some times.

Many people take the decals all off for a unique look.
