DS650 No Thermostat
#1
Hey guys, so I've had my DS for a little over a year and just the other day because I was changing the coolant I decided to pop the thermostat housing and bam, no thermostat lol All this time I had no idea. I never had any problems but I really think there should be a thermostat in there. What are your opinions and where can I even get a thermostat for a 2001 DS650 now? I can't find one anywhere.. Any help is very appreciated! Thanks!

should be no problem running without it, just take a little longer to get up to temp. one can say with a thermostat you get a slower water flow and better heat transfer

Thanks for the replies.. My worry is really about overheating, these machines get damn hot and I've heard that without a thermostat the coolant doesn't get time to actually cool in the rad. I'm not sure if my temperature sensor works either so it makes me a lil nervous.. I have the fan on a toggle switch and usually just keep it on all the time. I was able to order a thermostat from my dealer though, 50 bucks for the damn thing. Any other opinions? Should I get a temp sensor too($40)? Is there a way to test the temp sensor I have?
Thanks again
Thanks again

There is a way to test that sensor. Using a multimeter, measure the resistance between connector on the top of temperature sensor and threads. The multimeter should indicate an infinite resistance (O.L.), if not change the temperature sensor. If the resistance is infinite (O.L.), heat the temperature sensor, above 115°C (239°F). The resistance should be 0.1 Ω. If not, change the temperature sensor. I hope this helps.
