Default 110cc quad electrical problem

My 110 chinese quad (tao I think) won't start.....sort of....
If I jump across the solonoid terminals with a screwdriver, the quad will start up fine.
However, it won't start via the start button (or turn over for that matter).

When I press the brake pedal, or squeeze the front brake handle, the brake lights DO NOT come on. So if the quad thinks the brakes are not applied, I believe the safety device won't allow the engine to turn over.

I know the rear break switch works ( I swapped it with my other identical quad), so the problem lies somewhere in the wiring.

The main fuse is good also, the battery is brand new.

The ignition switch is good, I also swapped that with my working quad.
I also swapped the brake light bulb, and that too is good.

The only thing I can of now is that the remote start/kill switch is causing the problem. Is it possible the remote start locked up, and I can't unlock it because the key fob battery is dead? I got the quad from family Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Karts, and I saw a video on their site on how to "unlock" the remote. I'm going to pick up a new batter for the fob, and see if that works.

Any ideas as to why I can't get the brake light to work?

If the brake levers won't turn the brake light on, test the switch on the lever (male plugs) for continuity with a voltmeter. If that's ok check the next section of wiring from the end that plugs into the lever to the next place you can unplug the wires. (My wire had pulled out of the female plug and I couldn't see it because the wire insulation and cover on the plug covered it up.)

test the small wires goin into the starter relay/solenoid. one should be ground, and the other power. that is, with the brake applied and the key on, and the kill switch in run.

on my coolster quad, the power goes from the ign switch into the brake switch, out the brake switch to both the brake light bulb, and the start relay/solenoid.

my guess is one of your terminals is backed out, or female terminals is spread causing an open in the circuit.

do you know how to use a test light? or voltmeter? you'll need to look for power goin into the brake switch's, and make sure you have power coming out of the switch's when applied.
