There has been alot of tallk on here about how to properly treat your belt and so on in order to extend its life. I was wondering what is the safest top speed you can go in Low range...just curious? sorry if this is a dumb question. thanks ib advance.

No dumb questions just dumb answers,a lot from me.. Manuals states low range should be used under 7 mph in no load or loaded conditions. Above that you'd normally use high range.High is designed as a transport gear. You're not going to blow up the engine or really hurt it as it does have an rpm limiter. It's actually better to go over this speed say 10-15 mph or even more in low range under loaded conditions, rather than use high. Clutches run cooler and belts last longer for the most part when you do.

I never pay attention to the speed. If I hear it wind up good in low I switch to high.

Thats what i was figuring. Ive been pulling this decent size trailer around the farm doing this and that and Ive found that in Low it feels really torquey and the revs get up high until i get up to about 10 or 12 mph and it opens up a little. I did almost 20mph, and it felt and sounded ok. Wouldnt do any more then that though.

You wont hurt it if you hit this speed occasionally. Better than lugging it down in high range, heating up the clutches and belt.
