Default Engine Stalls on Heavy Braking

Guys,

My son's 2013 Zhejiang 110cc ATV stalls when he locks up the rear tires. Any particular reason why? I tried loosening the clutch adjuster all the way, but it still engages the moment you touch the throttle. There's no free play at all. Could that be the issue? If so, is there a fix?

Sounds like the clutch never fully disengages, that's why you stall on hard braking, its probably physically stopping the engine from turning. I would start by taking the clutch cover off and checking your centrifugal clutch out, could be a loose spring, a stuck weight, or missing part, hard to tell without actually seeing it. does the clutch drive a transmission before the drive chain, or is it some other set up? could be a transmission problem as well. I don't know that brand of quad, so I couldn't say.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'll have to crack it open. I haven't yet, and I'm assuming it's a wet clutch system... so oil pans ready?

If there is a foot shifter on it, then probably oil bath, if it is a gas and go, its a belt drive with a primary and secondary clutch, under a side cover that may or may not drive a secondary transmission to turn a sprocket

Clutch is on the right on the same side as oil cap, so it's a wet clutch for sure. Final drive is on the left, so there's some sort of transmission also, but it's fully automatic. Probably a couple of gears to reduce the ratio. Adjuster does nothing... it's pushed in as far as possible and ATV still wants to creep forward... as it warms up, it decreases... probably because the oil heats up and the viscosity decreases.

I;ll have to crack open the case and drain the oil to see what's going on.
