hi guys, i have a few questions concerning my polaris magnum 4x4, i bought it recently and its my first automatic and polaris brand, so for the questions

can a computer from an 04 magnum 330 2x4 work on my quad, i checked the serial number on both parts and they match up except the 2x4 and 4x4 on them ( found a 2x4 computer for 80 on ebay and a 4x4 for 170 on ebay also thats why im asking mainly)

does the computer control anything to do with switching into high gear for the tranny (goes neutral, park reverse and low but wont hit high)

finally what problem can i have with a faulty computer, i can already tell that the fan wont work but the atv still starts up on first crank of the key

any advice/ help is appreciated, and i kind of figure that im going to need to open up the tranny for the high gear but id rather know if it does anything for the tranny before i go elbow deep in it

Computer wont have anything to do with the shifting. Usually problems are gear case internal shift forks or dog gears,but at times the outer small transmission cover that houses the shift detent pawl, gear selector,etc could have problem with broken teeth, etc causing it not to shift properly.Parts are behind cover #4. Highly suggest a manual as these items have to be indexed properly if removed. If it shifts into park,then the lock out spring and plunger(works off the brake pedal) sound like they're ok. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2004&fveh=5649
