Buying "new" 2008 400ex tomorrow
#1
Hello all,
I am buying a 2008 400ex tomorrow evening. (2008 Honda TRX400) I've wanted a nice 4 wheeler since I was about 14 so I'm pretty pumped. I guess 400ex's are rather dull nowadays, but it's plenty fast for my level of experience.
I was hoping you all might give me some pointers or point me toward where I might do some reading on common trouble areas or just maintenance areas to watch or check on once I get the quad home.
It appears to have been very lightly ridden. There is no damage to the plastics (light scratches where the riders knees are), the steering stem stops looked very clean, bike started readily and ran crisp and strong. Shifts smooth, looks amazing. A very small amount of surface rust here and there on the chassis
I've heard the swingarm bolt can be a big trouble area? Otherwise if well cared for I believe the 400ex is supposed to last very well.
Thanks for your help.
EDIT: I forgot to add: There are no mods to the engine. The air filter is aftermarket and it has a slip on HMF muffler. I will be getting the stock gear as well.
