So I was out riding when all of a sudden I my DS650 got really sluggish, then I could hear a loud clicking sound coming from the motor. I pretty much knew then and there that the bearing was toast. Managed to make it all the way back home from the trails and pulled the motor right when I got back. (When I drained the, quite recently changed, oil I noticed it was very watery so I'm guessing the coolant is getting in there and that's why it must have overheated and wrecked the bearing?) Took it apart today and of course the rod has a shitload of play.. So, question is, where do I go from here? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Do I just need a new crankshaft and gaskets? The warm weather is just getting here and now I can't even ride! Thanks for any help!!

 

If you are running stock stroke/stock bore you're best bet is going to be ebay. If it's a stroker it's going to need to go to Falicon via OMW or TheBom.

There are some reasonably priced ones on the every now and then.

Oh man, this is going to be expensive.. There's only one crankshaft on eBay right now and it's about $800. I don't even know if it's worth fixing! I only paid 2k for the whole bike. Plus I need new a-arms and tie rods.. And I still don't really know how water got in the oil in the first place. Pretty frustrated right now...

 

It's definitely worth fixing but I would be patient for a crank to show up. $800 is not reasonable, especially for used. One will show up eventually for a couple hundred.
These are being parted out all of the time, because as you see, they fetch more as replacement/repair parts then they do as a good running machine.

Is it possible to replace the crank bearing?
