Common problem on these to loosen from vibration.Make sure the gasket is in good shape. Loctite good then torque these 8mm bolts to 216 inch pounds(18 foot pounds)

would loctite be much use with the high heat? i found out tonight that 2 holes are almost completely stripped out, there was 1 bolt missing, 2 metrics and 1 standard bolt in. standard is correct, right?

Problem is from the factory no loctite was used! These are 8mm allen head bolts. If someone has installed a standard bolt, then quite possibly you need to retap and helicoil, especially if threads are damaged.http://www.ebay.com/itm/exhaust-gask...-/300776281873

is there any reason to use the allen head bolts instead of hex?

Doesn't really matter as long as you can get a wrench on the two center ones.Clearance between the exaust tubes is the main thing..
