I love my new 99 Scrambler 400, but I feel it doesn't have the sound to back up the performance. I would love to make this thing louder. I'm leaning on a HPD silencer. HPD has 3 silencers, a forestry approved one, a loud non forestry approved one, and an even louder non forestry approved one which was the one I was thinking of getting. I would be curious to hear from anyone who has tried a HPD silencer or any other silencer from other after market companies.

I run the RCR pipe/silencer on my 99 Sport. There are some who question the fit of Ritter's pipes, but I have no complaints about it. My '99 is very modified so I'm sure that changes the sound a bit (I run the Hi-rev pipe on mine). The biggest compliment I get about the ATV in general is the sound. Not too mellow, not too loud, just enough to let people know I'm not here to just watch!

I also have a Ritter pipe and silencer on my '97 400. I love the improvement over the stock pipe. I am also one of those who didn't like the fit too much. It is a very tight fit and tends to vibrate against the frame at idle some times, but how often do we sit at idle . As far as the sound goes, the Ritter silencer really lets it breath. I think it verges on being alittle too loud for some folks. Especially the kind of people who do any kind of hunting or nice and easy, sight seeing riding.

I use the Aaen becuse it was the lightest & the cheapest plus it was under the 96db limit in some areas plus it was spark arrestor forestry approved & it is 94db . I never knew 94db was so load because this thing is very loud compaired to stock. It sounds mean. I put it on a HPD pipe.

I too have the RCR pipe and silencer. It is the midrange pipe. It's diffently a tight fit! It's a little louder than I thought it would be, but it does sound nice. Much better sound than my friends piped Banshee.
