In my continuing quest for a future high-performance motor in the 250R, I came across PSI Performance (I believe it was at the request of one of you). They offer a 425 cc motor with their own cylinder and piston and say it puts out 72hp. If any of you are familiar with them or this motor, would you consider it to be a dependable motor or a time-bomb? It seems to be a 'state-of-the-art' motor for the 250R.

Thanks in advance for the information...

I've really not heard too much about their quad motors, but for snowmobiles, they are one of the top dogs for aftermarket pipes and motors. They build a 300+ hp motor kit that is just awesome. I know their quad motor has power valves, just like the snowmobile motors. In my eyes, power valves are the only way to go for all around power. I'd give them a call.

Hey Bird, I used to live right down the street from PSI, I would see that shop literally every day. What I can tell you about them is they make the best snowmobile pipes and motors in the US, and from what i've been told from a guy who works there, one helluva Banshee pipe, but they aren't the friendliest people, they kind of have that "i'm at a shop so I know more than you" attitude, but give them a call and ask for Joby (pronounced JOE-B) hes a pretty cool guy and he races MX and works on bikes, he could probably give you the best info on their Quad stuff.Good luck.

GaryManilow,

Actually, I have spoken with Joby and he was really nice. So far I've been impressed by them. They're a little high ($$$), but seem to offer a good product. I just want a little more encouragment that the motors are not time-bombs! 72 hp is A LOT of power on any quad, much less one as light and nimble as the 250R.

I like the idea of having heads with adjustable compression ratios too. You would be able to taylor your compression ratio to what ever fuel that you want to use.

Actually, Travis Spader will be running a K&K, PSI, Lonestar bike this year while defending his GNC National Championship. By the end of the season you will know how good PSI is because Spader is as good as anyone on the circuit. The results will speak for themselves.

I called PSI today and asked about their 425 package. Its an all-bore motor. It makes 72 hp. With a top of the line carb it'll make 74hp on gas. That would put it close to 90hp on alky!!
I do alot of ice racing/draging and they said properly geared, it'll top the 100mph barrier!
