Default polaris trail boss

Last few days been working on this 87 Polaris 250 trail boss dropped in new piston. New gaskets. New spark plug. Cleaned carb, flywheel, checked spark great, checked compression great. So put some pre mix set at 40:1 that's what I run in my xplorer started right up first pull ran lil high so adjusted carb to run great. Anyways running good then putters out sounded flooded fuel coming out carb. I didn't see a overflow drain on the carb could this b the prob? Also can't get u joint off front what's a easy way besides cutting it off wit flame wrench? I tried sockets an c clamp along with heat an hammer

there is a piece of brass plate that looks like a W that is hinged
that brass plate releases pressure on the fuel inlet valve when the floats drop allowing fuel into the bowl
when the floats rise they lift the brass plate forcing the fuel inlet valve to close
( hold the carb upside down )
lightly press on the brass plate , you should feel very light resistance to downward pressure
if there is zero resistance and the plate flops around when you shake the carb , the fuel inlet valve is jammed in the open ( fill ) position

you will have to purchase a carb rebuild kit , the kit includes a new fuel inlet valve

time for a new shut off valve
as for the u-joints apply some grease around the cap surface before you press the new caps in
this will prevent the new caps from welding themselves to the sleeve over time
