RCR Stage 1 Kit

If I put this on my 01 400 Scram. with the mid pipe, what should I expect. Then how much louder will it be over the stocker. Also with the different spring, how much higher will the engagement be, and will I lose the ability for tech. riding.

You should expect nothing short of a night and day difference. It is a lot louder, if you don't like the idea of your bike being a LOT louder, have Rick give you some silencer options. He enjoys making customers happy, and will work hard to find just what you need. It does engage at a little higher RPM, and your quad will still perform well with all of the technical stuff you can throw at it.

I used a HPD pipe with the stock muffler for a while, until I had one of my own design made. Using the HPD pipe gave me better performance, and the nosie level was similar, but the sound different - more tinny like a 2 stroke should be.
The Muffler I have made looks a bit like the HPD one, but I can unbolt the centre and remove it for closed event races where noise is not an issue. When I trail ride I have the centre in and the Db's drop and it is fully spark arrested.

The RCR Mid range pipe will attach to the stock silencer, but there are no loops at the back of the pipe to hook the springs into. They could be welded on at a local muffler shop if you don't have access to a welder. Tne FMF Turbine Core II silencer should fit both the RCR and HPD Pipes, but does not have spring loops.
If you haven't bought the kit yet, you could ask Rick about swapping his pipe for a HPD. They have the spring loops and will definately work with a stock silencer

Has any one used a stock silencer on a hpd pipe, and if you did, did you lose performance. I would like to get the most out of the 400 that I can without being to loud. Is this possible?

When I had Rick put together my stage one kit, we used the HPD mid range pipe because I wanted to use a quiet, spark arrestor muffler. The HPd pipe allowed me to use my stock Polaris muffler, and it's as quiet as a stock Scrambler. I haven't driven one with the RCR muffler, but I am VERY happy with the increased power and acceleration.
My kit consisted of the HPD mid range pipe, HPD "Plain spring, and the air box kit. I used my stock muffler, and everything fit just fine.
Good luck,
