Default 2001 Honda Rancher ES

Yet another ES with shifting issues
purchased used about 6 months ago & just did axles tie-rod ends & serviced (brakes, oil,s tune-up Ect)
The day I register it
I head down my driveway for its maiden voyage & shifter stops working in 3rd gear no upshift or downshift. Manual shift back to the house
so here is where I am at
Manual shift works & shows on dash working properly
New Battery
cleaned & dio-elect. grease all connections
removed shift motor cleaned & greased also (works when connected direct to Battery)
adjusted clutch
cleaned shift buttons
It does not even click or sound like it is trying to shift
I did get it working for a very short amount of time. at first it would only shift up then both started working but within the few minutes it took me to put everything back together I am back to it not doing anything
I am assuming it is somewhere between the angle sensor & the ECU
or the shifter buttons
Any suggestions

You better read this post its one of the best http://forums.atvconnection.com/hond...em-solved.html

Not sure why the moderator on this site does not make it a "Sticky" The E.S shifting problem is only asked like a hundred times a month.

This worked on my 2000 Foreman 450ES. It would some times not shift up or down.

I would remove the fuses from under the seat and reinstall them and it would shift once again .
It seemed like something would just reset itself. Worth a try.

OK I pulled out my angle sensor & tested
with the angle sensor upside down dial turned all the way to the right (clockwise) I start a reading at 500 ohms it increases turning to the left (Counterclock wise) it goes up to 4.7K do I understand this per the service manual that it is junk?
