Default 2001 Honda Rubicon

Hello, after reading all the posts on electrical problems on the rubicon and the parts everyone buys and still has electrical problems i am going through my problems one at a time. I have 5 flashes and that means the angle sensor should be giving me my troubles but when i check the volts its reading 1.8 within range I m not sure what to look at next. I have the shift motor off and it reads 2.5 volts. I have also checked the switch on the front brake and the fuses. any ideas that anyone can think of? It has been a good machine until now. Maybe after all these years there are new easy fixes for this problem.

It's in a limp mode, sputters in reverse. Flashing screen d1-d2 -ESP . Was out riding and all of a sudden it had no power. All the connections are pretty much spotless . Thanks

Default Bad ECM

Right now I have the shift motor apart and cleaning that. I have checked all the wiring to the ECM. When I have time I'm going through the steps one at a time. This week has been about studying the book and asking questions and checking some of the easier stuff. Thanks for the suggestion papa Hogg !!

Default Shift Motor

For future reference I found that the magets in the shift motor are held apart by a thin piece of plastic glued to the wall, this plastic is almost gone and the magnets were allowed to move together and probably rotate within the shift motor casing, dont know if this is the problem but am in the process of gluing the magnets down with epoxy.

Default 2001 honda

For future reference after reading all the posts on here about shifting troubles and sputtering in reverse and the codes telling me it was an angle sensor problem and in my case it ended up being the magnets came loose and rotating in the shift motor, all i did was glue them down with epoxy and cleared all the codes. My problem has been solved with no money spent on the machine and I hope this helps someone else someday. I am happy with Honda once again!!!
