I have one last question about this thing. What is the splined shaft that sticks out just behind the recoil, behind the shift shaft. It's very small I don't think it's a kick starter it's only 3/8" in diameter. I never noticed it before prior to digging into this thing. It sticks through the recoil housing mating surface I thought it was a bolt at a short glance. And was wondering why it was striped. I wish I took a pic of it.

 

Sound like the gear indicator..Should have an white plastic dail on it then an e-clip to hold it on...
