I have a 98 polaris sportsman 500 and it runs great the only problem is that it backfires out of the tailpipe( not through the breather) when decelerating. Takes off good runs strong and idles fine also starts without any problems. I just put a new plug in it and the battery is new. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

Check for exhaust leaks and look at the intake boots for any cracks.
