1985 Honda trx250 rebuild
#1
I picked up a 85 trx250 that will not start. I have not yet checked the compression, but it feels like there is no compression. I have removed the carb and value covers. I looked down inside the motor where the carb connects to the motor and i see what looks like pieces of the air filter. Has anyone seen this before and is it fixable? The filter that was on the there was a made up filter that looks some what fuzzy. I have no idea what goes through some peoples head sometimes.

Is this TRX250 the 4-stroke or the 2-stroke. In either case, the lack of compression is not a good thing. If its the 2-stroke, common issues are rings or a bad head gasket. If its the 4-stoke, it could also be the head/valves. When you say that you look down inside the motor through intake, do you see a reed cage?

Its the TRX250 f-stroke. No red cage. it was white and fuzzy. it looks just like what the home filter is made out of. I have taken off the value cover and working on the head now. The intake value was very lose though. I will try and post pic's of what i am seeing. thx
