Mine seems to bea little slower than most. It will do 57. Others say theirs will do a little over 60.

Mine is a 95 and I can top the speedometer out on it at 60 but I would say it will go a little better than that. There's not too many people around where I live that can outrun me, other than racers(mostly Honda country around here)

Mine will just eke out 60 MPH. I borrowed a K&N filter for an afternoon, and that let it breathe well enough to do about 63 or 64. I switched to a Uni when the factory one got dirty, and it will bet me to 61 or maybe 62 if there is a long enough level spot.

I know they are faster than my Sportsman and the speedo on my SP reads 58 or so toped out, they get there quicker too. It is the quickest utility 4x4 out there.

61mph is my personal best on flat pavement, 64 going down a good sized hill (both according to the speedo).
Don't think I'd do that again, though... something about the way the little rises feel just doesn't sit well with me. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? How every little rise and dip makes the whole 4-wheeler feel kinda like its floating...

mine will hit about 62 on a dead run when the air is good, normally about 57 or 58.
as far as the floating sensation, try lower tire preasure, about 3.5 in front and 3 in back.
also polaris offers some replacement springs fo both front and rear to allow you to tune your suspension to your weight and riding style

99 explorer
kn filter
clutch mods for altitude
goodyear tracker p tires

my new 400 explorer will run the needle on the speedo right to the edge of the digital part on the speedometer.so im guessing that is 65.it is all stock.on a level gravel road.
