ATC 185s igniton trouble shooting
#1
Im working on a Honda ATC 185s for a customer and I am completely stumped. He came in for multiple things but one was upgrading the coil and fixing a no spark condition. I have bought and tested a new coil. he had me replace the CDI just as a precaution since it was so cheap, re-adjust the air gap in the pulse generator, and new spark plug. To diagnose the no spark, after all these things were done, I began at the connector coming out of the stator. I noticed 0 ohms of resistance in the exciter coil, so I removed the stator and replaced that coil. not I still have no spark. I now have instead of 0 ohms of resistance through the coil with the old one, now I have 230 ohms through the new coil. this value seems correct, but I still have no spark. I hooked a low voltage test light coming out of the stator on the black/red wire (exciter coil) and the light does not light up like it should when you pull it over. it is not sending voltage to the CDI module. the fly wheel was cleaned up as it was rusty and there is air gap all around the flywheel and stator coil ends. I am absolutely stumped. the flywheel seems fine, the magnets are not cracked and are in place, new exciter coil, no broken wires. why isn't there any signal being sent to the CDI module? I have traced the wiring diagrams and thought for hours. ive cleaned all grounds and confirmed continuity on all ground circuits. as well as clean the stator to engine case area for clean ground. any hely would be great! I am at a dead end.

what year 3 wheeler? not real familiar with them but had three ideas. looked on parts 83 185 shows pulse generator I believe is on camshaft? also ohm out kill switch to make sure it doesn't kill spark. some stator convert to ac voltage according to posts I have read but not going to say ant more than it might be something for researching
