Default 1974 Heald Super Bronc's

I bought these a couple weeks ago.. ebay auction and they were fairly close to my house..(220 miles 1 way)

Neither of them ran and both had been sitting 7 yrs since running. 3 of the 4 tires held air. It took new points and condenser to get spark in one of the engines. The carbs needed cleaning really bad. I took parts from each to get one running. Its gonna stay stock and as is ..except for a kill button and a seat cover. The other one will get a total rebuild, new paint, larger tires, etc...

It was called a Torq-A-Verter.. made by Comet.. To be honest Im not really sure what the difference between a Torque converter and a CVT is.. Have noticed CVT's have some sort of brake in the system.. not sure if thats the only difference.

After taking the larger Super Bronc apart to do a restoration on it. Found out it needed wheel bearings real bad so I took the other one apart and replaced the wheel bearings on it. Also cleaned a lot of parts up and put on a new brake cable. I willl post some pics of it later.. pretty much looks the same but a but cleaner.

they still make em I just ordered one for a profect I am playing with
Go Kart Torque Converter| Clutches, 30, mini bike, mini chopper, Go Cart, Gokart, Gocart, Torque A Verter, Torq A Verter, TAV2 30, Comet I have seen em as cheap as 90$ but with shipping they all run between 150/200 I love em and I believe it is a cvt just not watertight.

Comet still makes them too.. I found a replacement belt for one of mine on ebay.

Thinking about the CVT vs Torque converter some more... My torque converter experience goes back to the early 70's when I got 1 for my mini bike..(WOW!! by the way).. My experience with the cvt is with my Chinese 150's.. (only have 1 now) they had a gear box as part of the output drive...

Wondering if the gear box is what makes it a cvt?

Probably makes sense to me. I had a 250 Tao Tao that is a POS so I wanted to see if I could put a a harbor freight 212 in it and found after some minor adjustments I can but I need the sprocket further back or the chain will be to long so I decided to try a torque a verter. I also found a sort of wet clutch system I thought about but maybe next go round, Anyway Enjoy those little machines I LOVE my mancenstien as I call it. I have a manco minibike I also put a 212 and a Centrifugal clutch on the lil bugger does roll on wheelies!!!!

A junk Tao Tao 250? I thought they might turn out to be good machines.. Do you have a thread about the disaster in the Chinese section?

How close are you to getting the HF 212 working in the Tao Tao?

I posted here and there I bought 6 TaoTao machines last year only the 2 110's and 1 125 were ok I had to replace an engine on 1 of the 110 but they did send me it free one 125 was shyte a 150 and my 250 were all absolute junk. Buyer beware but I digress.
