Exclamation Honda 300 FourTrax CV question

This has got to be simpler than I'm making it..... I'm tearing down the front end of my TRX300FW and I can't seem to get the axle out of the outer CV Shaft.... Not sure what I'm not doing properly. There has to be a c-clip or retainer ring somewhere but I can't seem to find it. I didn't see any detailed pictures online that would help, nor any schematics on breakdown. The joint that connects to the front differential comes apart with a c-clip, so I would figure the outer cv joint would be similar.

Any help is appreciated.

You have to buy a entire axle when a CV goes bad. Here is how the axle is removed.

I've successfully removed the axle's already. Surely there has to be a way to remove this from the axle since they sell this all over eBay?

That's neat. You can get a CV separately.
Looks like a compression ring/Snap ring. Same thing that holds the axle into the front diff.
You just bang it off like at the 3 minute point of this video. (Its a long vid just skip to 3min.)
Its a Can AM but all CVs are held on the same way even on cars and trucks.

Thanks for taking the time to help in this question, that's exactly what I needed to know. I didn't want to get that aggressive with it, but I feel comfortable with it now. I'll strap it in my vice when I get home!

Hope you've got it now, but there is a snap ring (what you call a "c clip" that holds it in. You will most likely have to hammer it out, but make sure that on the first swing you see it give a little. Don't want to mess up the shaft housing!
