2004 polaris predator 50 won't crank
#1
My son was riding thru water puddles and then started riding around the house and the four wheeler just died all of a sudden. He tried to crank it several times and killed the battery. We charged the battery and still won't crank. We changed the spark plug and still not firing. We don't have a service manual either

Pull the right plastic cover exposing the stator. See if you can clean the water /dirt around the pick up coil and use an air blower if you have a compressor to remove any moisture in this area. Better if you have a flywheel puller to be able to clean thoroughly, but you may be able to do with out it. Check all the small wiring connectors above the right fender, remove and use some electrical grease every where there is a connector. Hopefully spark will return if the stator hasn't shorted out. I know there's some free service manuals still out there, but if no one is able to help, here's one for 5 bucks.http://polaris-atv.brssm.com/2004-Po...ce-Manual.html

We have cleaned around stator as you stated and still no spark. Is there anyway of testing the stator, coil or cdi assembly box? Or any other advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have an earlier 50 manual, don't know if the wire colors will be the same as your model.
#1 Disconnect the black kill wire from the cdi and see if you spark. If you do the internal circuit in the cdi has shorted out and cdi needs to be replaced.
#2 coil tab to ground 0.2- 0.3 ohms
coil tab to plug end- 8.0 to 9.3k ohms
coil wire to tab(cap removed) 3.0 to 4.2k ohms
#3 Stator Black to white/red 450 ohms
Black to Black/red 800 ohms
Black to yellow/red 0.5 ohms
Black to White 0.5 ohms
Black to Ground 0 ohms
Resistance measurements allow + or - 20 %
