1992 Trailboss 350L 4X4

Hello,
I’ve got a problem I’mnot sure what to do with. Any thoughtsanyone has would be appreciated. I havea 1992 Polaris Trailboss 350L 4x4 with a strange issue. When you start the machine it starts right upand idles just fine. But when you go todrive it smokes a lot and has no power. Imean like hold it wide open to go ten mph kind of no power. The smoke to me just seems to be what I wouldconsider normal 2-stroke smoke just more of it. By that I mean not dark blue or white, no different smells or anything. After I’d say a couple hundred yardsor so it will just all of a sudden clear out and take off like someone flippeda switch or something. Full power noexcessive smoke, everything works perfect. It only does this after it’s been sitting for a while, like overnight. When I go to start it for the first time on aweekend it does it for sure. It doesfoul spark plugs quickly. Compressionseems normal. I run 91 octane non-oxygas. I tried cleaning the carb, but thathad zero effect on how it ran. Could itneed an actual carb kit with new parts? Something not working right with the oil injection? Reed valve problem? Anyhelp would be appreciated.
Thanks

Turn the fuel off when you're through riding the machine.Sounds like the carb flooding into the crank case because of a worn needle and seat. Plenty of carb kits on ebay,Manufacturers Supply, etc.Plus no need for higher octane gas. 87-89 is plenty good enough.http://www.ebay.com/itm/CARB-REBUILD-KIT-POLARIS-TRAILBOSS-350-L-92-93-2WD-4WD-/270465904435?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ef9062f33&vxp=mtr

Thanks a lot for the advice. I actually ordered a kit already. A couple questions about it though. First, I do always turn the gas off. The **** kind of seems to turn hard though. I wonder if it's not shutting off. I'll look into that too. My other question is though is about the gas. The reason we run that gas is because it's non-oxygenated not because of the higher octane. The atv stays at our cabin so it goes for a while without being driven sometimes. The non-oxy seems to have better shelf life. Does it hurt anything to run it in there? Would we be better of running regular unleaded and maybe adding a lighter stabilizer with it?
Again, thanks a bunch for the response.

Won't hurt it,BUT make sure you check into the fuel valve and carb kit. As they get older and hard to turn, the valves do leak.Plus run a good stabilizer in the fuel anyway along with a battery tender. Better safe than sorry. Item #20 on the fuel valve.
