Mudblasta 125cc headlights mystery

Hi all!!! Have got a question bout headlights on my mudblasta china quad.
Bike has been purchased about a year ago and since then ive replaced the whole engine with brand new unit..now- night time ride put lights on they do come on but operate like **** and hardly shine my way through dark)-doesnt matter how good I rev it up-the headlights are pretty useless...until i start to brake and only while Im braking lights come on nice and bright!!!I mean WTF is going on..been like this since brand new.Any thoughts people?

You have a resistance in the lighting circuit which is by-passed when the brakes are on. Bad earths can cause strange faults, or it could be a faulty lighting switch. Whatever is causing the problem will get warm so look for something melted or discoloured.
