Default Why did Yamaha quit making this.

Its a 1989 "Pro Hauler". I kind of like it . Looks like a good ATV for camping.

Not sure. Either it didn't sell well or they felt it created a conflict with golf cart sales would be my guess though.

Never seen one. The closest quads to that are the Arctic Cat TBX and Polaris Sportsman X2.

I'd like to see the convertible seat from the X2 on a Big Boss 6x6. That would be the ultimate quad-width camping vehicle.

Like most things, it got updated and morphed into the Rhino. There are quite a few Pro haulers in the UK but I think they were 2WD which would hold sales back. The Rhino is now up against the Mule, Gator and Kubota RTV which are available with car style diesel engines. UK farmers can get "red" diesel at half the price Truckers pay for diesel, so buy diesel "rough terrain vehicles."

I just bought one of those this past fall. It's all there and seems mostly undamaged and unmolested. I'm finally getting around to cleaning it up and getting it to run right. It's backfiring through the carb at the moment, but I've only just started the process of getting it back in shape.

I figured it would be the perfect thing to use around the property. Since it has the little pick-up bed attached, there's no fuss with hooking up a trailer to haul firewood in from the tree line or garbage down to the end of the lane.

People just buy a basket and bolt it onto the rear rack now. This did seem like a good idea at the time but once every manufacturer started building side by sides(except Suzuki) then you get a much bigger dump box and can take at least one other person with you.

Pretty well looks like a stretched version of a 250 Bear Tracker with a flat deck on the back.

They still look to have a few advantages over a SXS, Price, Weight and they fit in the box of a 1/2 ton truck.
