I purchased a Raptor about a month ago and the clutch is gone after 10 rides. I like heavy traction so I duplicated the tires on my warrior with 25 inch vampire superswampers.Has anyone done such agressive tire mods without a clutch problem in the raptor? I am going to contact yamaha as my service shop says the clutch will not be warrantied. 600 dollars canadian for the repair makes it worth my while to ask for a little help in this matter.
I need some good contact info to get yamaha to warranty the problem
Does anyone think I have a chance for warranty?
Thanks Kelk.

Uh, you didnt tell them that you put 25in tires on it did you? If you did tell them that you were joking. But seriously, a 25in tire is BIG, especially on a sport quad, besides the heigth im betting that it was at least 12.5 wide. Those tires weigh almost 3 times what your stock ones do and most likely made it feel like you had a 20 tooth front sprocket. My Raptor hooks up to good with the stock tires so much so that you cant keep the front end down. I bet it did look crazy as he11 with 25 Vipers on it though.

That wouldnt be anything under warranty. Thats abuse haveing that big of tires on that quad.. Good luck. You should have never told them if you did.

Suggestion: First thing you need to do is put your stock tires back on. Second is to find the next closest dealer to you and take it to them to get the clutch fixed. Do not volunteer the info that you had big tires on it. Good Luck.

I have been considering a similar change in tires on my Raptor. How do you like the combo? Do you have any pictures you would share? Thanks

Thanks for the Replies.
Came to conclusion that I should have put the stocks back on.Still think there was a problem with a scarred up clutch boss.Bad day at the factory.Got new yamaha clutch in now, will see how this one holds up.Will do anything to keep my raptor up. My swampy riding conditions warrant the extra height and traction.I just put on a 12 tooth front and a 44 tooth rear. The stock chain just fit. To get the clearance from the pegs.I moved the foot guards to the front of the peg instead of mounted to the rear. The gearing now gives me the ability to ride the trails at manageble speeds.
Other than than my clutch problem. I havent had any other problems. Even with the changed gearing and 25s. My riding club are eating my dust.
Thanks Kelk. Try to get some pictures together.

I would like to see some pictures of it with the guards moved and with the 25s if possible. Thanks,

Also, what did you do tho get the clearance for the 44 sprocket. I used 4 washers for a 42. Thanks again
