Modifying the Trail Blazer

Anybody out there do much in the way of modifying there TB beyond a pipe, air filter and clutch kit?
I'm interested in Big bore kits. So far 2mm over stock is all I've found. I think the 300 piston might work even though the stroke is 65mm vise 60. I could go with a 76.5mm Wiseco for the 300. Any experience in this area would be greatly appreciated.

you acn bolt a express 300 cylinder and piston on to get more power

I doubt if you can just bolt a 300 cylinder on. It has a different stroke from the 250. Personally, I think that it is a waste of time.

Mike,
Have to agree with you, bolting on the cylinder of an engine that has 5mm greater stroke will have the ports in the wrong location.
Do you think trying to get more power from a TB is a waste of time? Between my 400 Scrambler and 250 TB I prefer the TB on tight trails. We usually ride between 5 and 8 hours and the TB is much less tiring as well as easier to throw around. I'm looking for more torque. I can already outrun all the large utility quads with my slightly modified TB (Including a 600 Yamaha Grizzly) on trails and have no trouble keeping up with 400 Scramblers and Sports.

There doesn't seem to be too many parts available for the trailblazer but i'm sure you can get some power out of that puppy.

A pipe, higher compression piston, roller clutch kit, some porting and polishing, some kind of carb work and a good belt is probably all that you can really do.

On the flip side you can talk to Jim Maloney who dropped 50 lbs off his scrambler 400 and is loving it. Nice wheels and tires will reduce a couple, improve traction and make the quad look good. If you can do some or all of the perfomance mods listed above and bring the trailblazer down to 400 lbs you'll be alright.

I didn't say it was a waste of time to try to get more power out of it, I just said that it was a waste of time trying to go the 300 cylinder route. There is always a way to get more power out of it, look at the old Cyclone. There is a good starting point. You should be able to get almost 30 Hp out of it with at least a pipe change, let alone with the porting and carb swap.

Wasn't sure which one you meant that was why I had the question mark. I have found that most of the guys who specialize in Polaris quads are not interested in tackling an overbore on the Trail Blazer. Guess there isn’t enough money in it for them. I have found one machine shop that set a guy’s TB up for drag racing. It seems there are better starting points than a TB for that but I bet he shocked a bunch quads. He says he can do whatever I am interested in. We are now discussing prices to see what I can afford. I’m not going to get too wild but would like to push the displacement up around 300cc. I’m interested in more torque and a quicker trail machine.
I do have one of RCR’s kits (pipe, jet, filter, Pri Spring) and it did make a big difference. The stock pipe is a terrible design.
