Ok I know I ruffled a few feather's with this post but here's the update. As you all know my friend's 2001 400ex has alway's had one wheel bent in terribly, you know the rest of the story. Anyway the Honda rep came out to the dealer and has agreed to put a whole new frame on the bike free of charge. If your bike has this problem I urge you to force the issue with your dealer to have a rep come out and look at it.PEACE to all the 400ex owners. I like the bike just no reverse.

you are a much bigger man than most of the raptor owners that come over here. we need more people like you, we are into the same sport, stop acting like 5 year olds!

Thanx I just wanted to let people know that I wasn't trying to start any fight's the last time I came in here. So people take our sport way to seriously.

raptor01blue,

Thanx for the update. I know when most people saw your first post, they thought it was a flame, but we see now it was not!

I will tell all others that you are a true asset to our sport, not just Yamaha. Next time you speak, I bet more people will listen!

thanx again

Do you by chance have any pictures of the bad weld job that could be posted so we know what to look for? That would be very helpful.

I dont have any pcs of the bike we have a video of it the day he bought it but don't know how to transfer it to the pc. Also you can't really see the bad weld it's more like something was welded in the wrong place give or take a couple of millimeter's. Hope this help's. All I can tell the 400ex owners is too park your quad on level ground put the bars straight ahead and look at the wheel's and see if one is bent in terribly. His was the one on the right sitting on the bike.

What about a manufacturing date. If it was an assembly problem, it would likely be on quads around that date?

I read your last post shortly after getting my new 01 400ex and whent straight out to the garage to check it out. I found the same thing your freinds machine has. I brought it to the attention of my dealers top mechanic and he said that was the way it is and not to wory abought it. He then proceeded to walk awy after just glancing at it. It was like talking to a brick wall. I think I will bring it to the owners attention next. Thanks for the update. Keep us posted as to weather or not the new frame is any better.
