I recently bought a 96 454 Bearcat. I have been having trouble with the carb. Today I took it out and it ran fine for awhile but when my son ran it the plug fouled and the thing quit. I have been told the 97 and 98 models had a redisigned carb. Does anyone know what changes were made and will one of these work on my machine; also will they be any better. I have in my garage a carb from a 350XL Honda motorcycle and one from a TT500 Yamaha and I am considering trying these.

Try bypassing the primer on the carb, they go bad and the motor pulls extra fuel through there.I did it on my 97. AC had a update about that a couple of years back ... Bill

Well Arctic Cat also went to a 152.5 main jet on the AC500 in 1999. This jet is suposed to help the 454's backfireing problems, but not sure about your plug fouling problems.
