Hey guys I am thinking of getting a new quad and I am curious which of these quads is the better trail machine? I am leaning towards the Warrior do to no reverse on the Honda. How does the power compare between the Warrior and the 400EX?
I haven't ridden one in about 6 years, since I sold my Suzuki 250. Thanks in advance...

i would recamend the 400ex! no question! i had a warrior and did not like it. the 400ex has lots of room to grow.i feel that the warrior is a tank do to the weight of it. one minor set back on the 400ex is the reverse but it is worth it. the 400ex is an awesome bike!!!!!!!

The Warrior having reverse is the only thing it has over the 400EX. In everything else there is no contest... The 400 kicks the Warriors ***!

400EX Warrior
------------------ -----------------
~26 HP ~17 HP
~65 MPH top speed ~55 MPH Top speed
killer suspension tank
butter-smooth tranny notchy at best
no reverse reverse
Honda Yamaha

There is no comparison.

I might also add that the honda responds better to hop ups,(4 valves instead of two), and the design is much newer. The ex will run away from a warrior in most situations, even a modded warrior.

I just bought a 400ex and my buddie who rides with me 90% of the time I ride has a warior with a k&n air filter and a 14 toothe front sproket for winter riding and our top end is identical but I beat him there. In my opinion the honda suspention and whole chasise layout is much better. His seat is a little softer. Not having reverse is no big deal. The machine is light enough that you can either push it back or just pick-up the front and swing it around.

I prefer the Warrior. I've got my reasons. Reasons, good enough that I bought a Warrior instead of the 400ex.

I also bought a Warrior because of it's history. There are alot of valid points on this thread though. I guess one could say the Warrior is sporty and the Ex is sportier. Depends on your style. See also the Yamaha postings.

Either one would be a real good choice.
