Sportsman owners question for you about tires?
#1
I have a 00 rse sportsman 500, and I want to get some 27 inch vampire tires for it and was wondering would I have to have a lift kift or anything? I have a progressive spring and adjuster kit on the front, if that helps? I would like to know if I could get 27 inch ones or would I have to get 26? Also, would I need to get new rims or could I use the stock ones?

My friend put 27" Blackwaters on his '00 RSE and they rubbed on the front, brushing against the fenderettes. He wound up going with a lift. Sooo, definitely stay narrow on the front.

hey sportsman500nc,
i think the 27" you're thinking about MIGHT rub. i have resently bought 26" outlaws for my '01 sp500ho with spacers, and they rubbed turning. i bought those polaris rubber shock spacers and put two sets in each front spring and it did the trick. outlaws front are 26X10.00X12, the rears are 26X12X12. outstanding traction in deep snow and while plowing the new england snow to!

Don't do the lift kit thing. if it all possible puts allot of stress on the 4x4 system. The SP already has allot of ground clereance 26 inch tires are perfect. I rode with a couple guys with 25 inch Vamps and wow they could go through the mud. They were 25's but were taller than my stockers. and much more agressive.

I put 26x12x12--26x9x12 589's on mine and they bottem out on the whooptees(dont no what else to call them),so I gave a couple turns on the progressives and thier fine.makes for a stiffer ride but thats the price you pay

I tried this on my HO and the front tires hit the fenders bad when you turn!!! Also thats with the stock tires so it won't help with tall ones. I only tried this to see if it worked cause someone else suggested it for the rears and I wanted to see if it worked for both ends and it don't.
