Well I just had to vent some excitement here. I went out and bought a 2000 Scrambler 500 today, brought it home and it is awesome. Got rid of the Sport 400 for 4x4 and wanted to go back to 4-stroke. The weekend cant come fast enough. Anyway thanks for allowing me to gloat.

I just bought a 2000 Scrambler 500 about
4weeks ago. And all I can say is this thing rules. Its got almost 11" or travel in the
rear thanks to a new shock for 2000.
I can not wait to riding this weekend in NH.
Good luck with yours, they are the best.

Eric

OK Andrew -lets just say that Scramblers are the best and leave it at that. Hope that makes you feel better. Take care! CT

Just got a new 500 scrambler also. Only rode it once and love it so far. The dealer was a little vague on maintenance procedures. The owners manual is a little confusing due to the fact that it covers about 10 different Polaris models. Is there any oil to change other that the main oil tank?
I'll order a service manual, but want to check everything out to begin with. Any help is appreciated.

I paid $5800 for my Scrambler. I may have been able to do better by shopping or calling around but I pretty much bought it on impulse and wanted it that day. List price is $6300 in case you did not know. As a footnote, i have had it a couple weeks now and have probably put about 10 hours on it and i think it gets more fun every time i ride it. First 4 wheel drive i've owned and im having a ball going places i never could before. Not to mention the thing is pretty damn fast for weighing 542lbs. CT

Atver, There is a screen in the inlet to the oil pump(on the bottom of the oil tank, there is also a drain for the crankcase, on the bottom of the engine. P.S. don't forget the filter. It is a piece of cake. The only thing that is not a piece of cake is, putting the oil in it. I use an extention spout that you can buy at any store like Western Auto ect. Later, Dave

CTthorpe,
I don't know where you got the list price of $6300 for a 500 Scrambler. Polaris list price on a 99 500 Scrambler is $5899 and the 2000 model list for $6099. This is for the entire United States. Unless you are from somewhere else somebody fed you bad info.
Scott.
