Default 1986 suzuki quadrunner 230G valves help

hey does anyone know the valve clearances intake and exhaust for a 1986 suzuki quadrunner 230G has the worst tick i ever heard be suprised if theirs not chips on the rocker screws

First try to tighten your timing chain if the chain is loose it with also make a load ticking noise.

If you do a search on youtube they will probably have a good video on how to do it.

I found a good one for a 350 Yamaha. It was pretty simple.

i made a small adjustment on the timing chain before but the tick stayed, their was no youtube videos either for that exact engine, thanks guys

Take the valve clearance down to 0.006" with the piston at top dead centre on the compression stroke, you won't be too far off at that and if the clatter goes you know that is the problem. I find a mild seizure can cause a sound like valve clatter as the piston clearance increases at the skirt and creates a lot of piston slap. Also Honda 350s sometimes get loose valve seats which make a racket, don't know about your model.
