I need info on a customers 2000 sportsman 500 4x4.
Battery won't stay charged. Says battery is a year old.
It's not here thus I haven't put a multi-meter on it yet but if you can give me your thoughts.

If it isn't charging,could be as simple as a connector pulled loose.Kind of a common problem on the Sportsman models with the regulator mounted by the radiator doing this. If it's connectors are ok but not charging,you can ohm out the yellows to each other and also each wire to ground. If any wire shorts out to ground,the regulator needs replacing.If the regulator shows ok could be a stator problem,but rarely does this ever happen.Item #24.
